Lehae directly translates to home. Our interpretation of home is more than a place, it is an idea and a feeling.  It encompasses a sense of identity, security and familiarity.

The Lehae Multi-Purpose Centre strives to create a sense of identity, a place of gathering with a strong symbolic reference to home. The Design strives to enrich the community of Lehae with a cultural node that provides more than recreational facilities it creates a gathering space for the community – a space that becomes a symbol of home.

The overall formal concept comes from the traditional African Hut. The main architectural feature that encloses the Multi-Purpose Centre is carved from the primary shape of the hut. This circular element is permeable and serves as the main element around which the internal buildings and features are arranged.
